Resort Description
With an environment inspired by the cultural splendor and picturesque beauty of an African wildlife reserve, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge allows its guests to discover the glories of Africa in a full service Disney resort. Shaped in the unique horseshoe of a traditional African village, the well-appointed resort features hand-carved furnishings, rich wood and vibrant colors.
Guests are immersed in comfort and excitement. Most guest rooms overlook a33-acre savannah that is home to 36 species of mammals and 26 species of birds, including grazing zebra, giraffe, antelopes, Thomson's gazelle, ostriches, flamingos, African spoonbills and sacred ibis. Keeping with the African theme, the lodge has thatched roofs, reed walls, and tribal shields throughout, contributing to the look and feel of an African village.
There are three African-inspired restaurants, a thatch-roofed lobby with a massive mud fireplace and flowing stream inside, and an ingenious landscape design that puts guests within 15 feet of the animals for an extraordinary view of the reserve. Guests can also enjoy a swimming pool, slide, two spas with hot tubs, children's wading pool, and a playground. The lodge is only a short distance from Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park.
